Conyers, GA. The Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce today announced the formation of the Georgia Regional Sports Council. The focus of the organization is to keep pace with the highly competitive sports and special events industry, a key driver of economic growth in many metropolitan centers around the United States. Formed in late 2023, the Georgia Regional Sports Council has created a mission statement that reflects the focus and intent of the organization. The mission statement is as follows.
The Georgia Regional Sports Council’s mission is to be the epicenter for sporting and special events and to drive economic growth, tourism, recreation, and entertainment by attracting, hosting, and supporting exceptional sporting events on a national and regional level.
The GRSC will be supported by corporate sponsors and partners along with general membership. While the GRSC will be headquartered in Conyers, GA, it will extend membership and event opportunities to eight surrounding counties, thus ensuring that there are more than adequate hotel rooms and sporting venues to accommodate events of size and significance.
The formal launch of the Council, including a website and membership options, is expected in late April.
