Cajun Beats & Eats Festival Returns to Conyers: A Celebration of Culture, Community, and Economic Growth
CONYERS, GA — The Georgia Regional Sports Council (GRSC) is proud to announce the return of the Cajun Beats & Eats Festival on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
Back for its second year, this vibrant celebration of Louisiana-inspired culture and Georgia community spirit will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Lawn @ Wheeler Park.
This year’s festival promises to be larger and more impactful than ever, drawing visitors from across the region to enjoy a high-energy mix of live performances by local Atlanta artists, an expansive “Makers Market,” and a culinary journey through authentic Cajun and Creole flavors-featuring everything from premium seafood vendors to traditional festival favorites.

Revitalizing Conyers through Recreation
The festival finds its home at The Lawn @ Wheeler Park, a premier outdoor destination conceptualized by GRSC Executive Director and former Rockdale County Parks and Recreation Director, Jason Redmond. Inspired by his work with the National Parks and Recreation Association (NRPA), Redmond designed the park to elevate the county’s recreational standards. Today, the facility boasts:
• Outdoor fitness center and amphitheater
• Splash pad, skate park, and playground
• Disc golf, volleyball, and dedicated pickleball courts
• Full-service pavilion
“We saw a need for a space that could serve as both a daily recreational hub and a premier venue for regional events,” says Redmond. “Hosting the Cajun Beats & Eats Festival here for a second year proves that strategic investment in our local parks and drives both community joy and local tourism.”

Family Fun & Economic Impact
The 2026 festival is designed with all ages in mind. The dedicated Kids Zone will feature adrenaline-pumping activities including zip lining and rock climbing, alongside classics like face painting.

Beyond the music and food, the festival serves the GRSC’s broader mission. Established in 2023 by the Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, the GRSC is governed by a 15-member board representing business, government, and education sectors. Led by Redmond—a former college basketball standout and veteran AAU coach-the Council leverages special events to stimulate the local economy.

“Our goal is to be the epicenter for sporting and special events in Georgia,” says Redmond. “By attracting high-profile gatherings like this festival, we aren’t just hosting a party; we’re driving tourism, supporting local business owners, and putting East Atlanta on the map as a premier destination in the Southeast.”
